SPIROTETRAMAT 6% SC

A systemic insecticide with novel keto-enol chemistry providing unique two-way translocation (ambimobile) in plant tissues. It controls sucking pests at all life stages—including eggs—by inhibiting lipid biosynthesis, ensuring extended residual activity and effective resistance management.

Target Pest
Sucking Pests & Eggs
Mode of Action
Lipid Inhibitor + 2-Way Systemic
Crops
Cotton, Veg, Fruit
Active: Spirotetramat Formulation: SC (Suspension Concentrate) Action: Bidirectional Systemic

Product Information

Mode of Action

Spirotetramat acts by inhibiting acetyl-CoA carboxylase, blocking lipid biosynthesis essential for energy production, growth, and reproduction. Its unique feature is bidirectional systemic movement (xylem and phloem transport), allowing it to reach pests on the underside of leaves and in new shoot/root growth.

Target Pests
  • Whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci, Trialeurodes vaporariorum)
  • Aphids
  • Mealybugs (Phenacoccus solenopsis, Ferrisia virgata)
  • Psyllids (Diaphorina citri)
  • Scale insects
  • Jassids (Amrasca biguttula)
Key Benefits

Controls all life stages: adults, nymphs, and eggs (ovicidal activity). Excellent rotation partner for resistance management.

Recommended Application

Crop Target Pest Dosage
Cotton Whiteflies, Aphids, Mealybugs Refer to Leaflet
Vegetables (Chilli, Tomato) Whiteflies, Aphids, Thrips Refer to Leaflet
Fruits (Citrus, Grapes) Scale Insects, Mealybugs, Psyllids Refer to Leaflet

Dosage Note: Specific dosage rates (ml/ha) were not provided. Please consult the product leaflet or local agricultural extension for registered application rates in your region.

Application Instructions

1. Timing
Apply at the early stages of infestation. Because Spirotetramat inhibits lipid synthesis, it is particularly effective against immature stages and reducing the reproductive capacity of adults.
2. Systemic Movement
The product moves both upwards (acropetal) and downwards (basipetal) within the plant. This ensures that hidden pests on the underside of leaves and even root aphids are controlled effectively.

Safety Precautions

Safety Profile: Safe for most beneficial insects when dry, making it suitable for IPM.

Handling: Wear standard protective clothing during mixing and application. Avoid inhalation of spray mist.
