Insecticide-Acaricide
SPIROMESIFEN 22.90% SC
A tetronic acid derivative insecticide and acaricide with a unique mode of action. It inhibits lipid biosynthesis, providing excellent control of whiteflies and mites through strong ovicidal and nymphicidal activity.
Target Pest
Whiteflies & Mites
Mode of Action
Lipid Biosynthesis Inhibitor
Crops
Veg, Cotton, Tea, Fruit
Active: Spiromesifen
Formulation: SC (Suspension Concentrate)
Action: Ovicidal & Nymphicidal
Product Information
Mode of Action
Spiromesifen inhibits Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), a key enzyme in lipid biosynthesis. By disrupting the production of essential lipids, it prevents insect growth and reproduction. It is particularly effective against immature stages (eggs and nymphs) and reduces female fertility.
Target Pests
- Whitefly (Bemisia tabaci)
- Yellow mites (Polyphagotarsonemus latus)
- Red spider mites (Tetranychus spp.)
- European Red Mite
- Thrips (Scirtothrips dorsalis)
Key Benefits
Effective resistance management tool due to its unique chemical class (ketoenols). Long-lasting control by cutting off the pest lifecycle.
Recommended Dosage
| Crop(s) | Target Pest | Dosage (ml/Ha) | Water (L/Ha) | Waiting Period (Days) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brinjal | Red spider mite | 400 | 500 | 05 |
| Cotton | Whitefly & Mite | 600 | 500 | 10 |
| Apple | European Red Mite & Red Spider Mite | 300 | 1000 | 30 |
| Chilli | Chilli Yellow Mite | 400 | 500 – 750 | 07 |
| Tea | Red spider mite | 400 | 400 | 07 |
| Okra | Red spider mite | 400 – 500 | 500 | 03 |
| Tomato | Whiteflies & Mites | 625 | 500 | 03 |
Dose rates vary by crop and pest intensity. Note the high water volume requirement for Apple (1000L).
Application Instructions
1. Application Timing
Apply at the first sign of infestation, preferably when pests are in the egg or nymphal stages. Early application maximizes the ovicidal effect.
2. Resistance Management
Do not apply more than two consecutive sprays of Spiromesifen. Rotate with insecticides from a different chemical class to prevent resistance buildup.
Safety Precautions
Harvest Intervals: Respect the waiting periods strictly, ranging from 3 days for Tomato/Okra to 30 days for Apple.
Handling: Wear standard protective clothing. Avoid spraying during high wind conditions to prevent drift.
