Active: Pyridalyl Formulation: EC (Emulsifiable Concentrate) Action: Contact & Stomach

Product Information

Mode of Action

Pyridalyl acts on intracellular calcium channels and ryanodine receptors in muscle cells, causing an uncontrolled release of calcium. [Image of intracellular calcium release in muscle cells] This leads to muscle contraction, cessation of feeding, paralysis, and death. It acts effectively via both contact and stomach ingestion.

Target Pests
  • Bollworms (Helicoverpa armigera, Pectinophora gossypiella)
  • Fruit borers (Helicoverpa armigera)
  • Diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella)
  • Leaf folders (Cnaphalocrocis medinalis)
  • Fruit and shoot borer (Leucinodes orbonalis)
Key Benefits

Unique chemistry (unclassified group) makes it an excellent rotation partner for managing resistance in lepidopteran pests.

Recommended Dosage

Crops Target Pest Dosage / Ha (ml) Formulation (ml)
Cotton Bollworms 750 – 1000 750 – 1000
Vegetables Fruit borers, DBM 600 – 800 600 – 800
Rice Leaf folders, Stem borers 500 – 750 500 – 750
Fruits Fruit borers 800 – 1000 800 – 1000
Dosage Note: Use higher rates (up to 1000 ml/ha) for high pest pressure or larger canopy crops like Cotton and Fruits.

Application Instructions

1. Timing
Apply when larvae are in the early instars (stages 1-3). The product causes feeding cessation rapidly, but total mortality may take a few days.
2. Selectivity
Pyridalyl is highly selective, meaning it targets pests while being safe for most beneficial insects and pollinators, making it ideal for IPM programs.

Safety Precautions

Environmental Profile: Safe for beneficial insects. However, avoid application near water bodies to protect aquatic life.

Handling: Wear standard protective clothing during mixing and application. Ensure good spray coverage as it acts by contact and ingestion.
