Product Information
Mode of Action
Prothioconazole inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis by blocking the C14-demethylase (CYP51) enzyme, resulting in impaired fungal cell membrane formation and inhibition of fungal growth. It is classified under FRAC Group 3 (DMI fungicides).
Target Diseases
- Rusts
- Powdery mildew
- Alternaria
- Leaf spots
- Fusarium head blight
Recommended Application Guidance
| Crop | Target Disease | Application Guidance |
|---|---|---|
| Wheat | Rusts, Fusarium | Fusarium timing is tight — target flowering (anthesis), not before or after. |
| Oilseed rape | Sclerotinia | Watch weather during bloom; wet, mild conditions sharply raise infection risk. |
| Vegetables | Leaf spots | Let local disease forecasting tools guide the spray schedule rather than a fixed calendar. |
For specific ml/ha dosage rates and local dilution guidelines across registered crops, please refer to the registered product label or consult local agronomic specialists.
Application Instructions
1. Critical Timing for Fusarium & Sclerotinia
In wheat, target application precisely at flowering (anthesis) for effective Fusarium head blight control. For oilseed rape, monitor bloom weather closely, applying ahead of or during mild, wet conditions that promote Sclerotinia infection.
2. Dynamic Spray Scheduling
In vegetable crops, utilize local disease forecasting tools and weather monitoring to time applications effectively instead of relying on rigid calendar schedules. Ensure uniform foliar spray coverage.
Safety & Environmental Care
Always wear proper personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles, mask, protective clothing) during spray preparation and application. Very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects; prevent chemical drift or runoff into waterways, streams, and ponds. Store in original sealed containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from food and animal feed.
