Selective Herbicide
PROPANIL 20% + THIOBENCARB 40% EC
Provides post-emergence control of annual grasses, broad-leaved weeds, and sedges in transplanted and direct-seeded rice. Combines contact action (Propanil) with residual soil activity (Thiobencarb) for rapid and extended weed control.
Target Weeds
Grasses, Sedge & Broad-leaf
Mode of Action
Contact + Residual
Crops
Rice (Transplanted & DSR)
Active: Propanil + Thiobencarb
Formulation: EC (Emulsifiable Concentrate)
Action: Post-Emergence
Product Information
Mode of Action
Propanil: Acts as a contact herbicide inhibiting photosynthesis by blocking electron transport in photosystem II, causing immediate chlorosis and necrosis.
Thiobencarb: Absorbed through shoots and roots, inhibiting cell division and growth by interfering with lipid biosynthesis. It provides residual soil activity to prevent further weed emergence.
Target Weeds
- Echinochloa crus-galli & Echinochloa colona
- Cyperus difformis (Sedge)
- Monochoria vaginalis
- Leptochloa chinensis
Recommended Dosage
| Crop | Weed Species | Dosage (L/ha) | Water (L) | PHI (Days) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rice (Transplanted & Direct-seeded) | Echinochloa spp., Cyperus difformis, Monochoria vaginalis, Leptochloa chinensis | 3.0 – 3.5 | 400-600 | 45-55 |
Dosage refers to Liters of formulation per hectare. PHI = Pre-Harvest Interval (Waiting period in days).
Application Instructions
1. Mixing
This product is an Emulsifiable Concentrate (EC). Add the required quantity (3.0-3.5 L) to the spray tank filled with water while stirring. Ensure the mixture is uniform before application.
2. Timing of Application
Apply as a post-emergence spray when weeds are in the early growth stages (2-3 leaf stage). For best results in rice, drain the field before application to expose weeds to the spray and re-flood 1-2 days later.
Safety Precautions
Warning: Use personal protective equipment (gloves, mask, goggles). Propanil can be phytotoxic if mixed with certain organophosphate insecticides; avoid applying organophosphates shortly before or after herbicide treatment. Toxic to fish.
