METHOXYFENOZIDE 21.8% SC

A selective insect growth regulator specifically targeting lepidopteran larvae. It mimics the natural molting hormone to disrupt normal development, offering excellent crop safety and a favorable environmental profile.

Target Pest
Lepidopteran Larvae
Mode of Action
Ecdysone Receptor Agonist
Crops
Groundnut, Cane, Fruit
Active: Methoxyfenozide Formulation: SC (Suspension Concentrate) Action: IGR (Molting Mimic)

Product Information

Mode of Action

Methoxyfenozide acts as an ecdysone receptor agonist, triggering premature and lethal molting in larvae. Affected insects stop feeding immediately and die during the incomplete molt. It is highly selective to lepidopteran pests.

Target Pests
  • Leaf eating caterpillar (Spodoptera litura)
  • Groundnut leaf miner (Aproaerema modicella)
  • Pod borer (Helicoverpa armigera)
  • Early shoot borer (Chilo infuscatellus)
Applicable Crops

Apples, Pears, Stone fruits, Tomatoes, Cabbages, Cotton, Rice, Groundnut, and Sugarcane.

Recommended Dosage

Crop Target Pest Formulation (gm/Ha) Water (L/Ha) Waiting Period (Days)
Groundnut Leaf eating caterpillar (Spodoptera litura) 875 500 26
Groundnut Leaf miner (Aproaerema modicella) 875 500 26
Groundnut Pod borer (Helicoverpa armigera) 875 500 26
Sugarcane Early shoot borer (Chilo infuscatellus) 500-625 500 161
Sugarcane dosage depends upon the stage of the crop. Always refer to local agricultural extension guidelines.

Application Instructions

1. Timing of Application
Because Methoxyfenozide is an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR), it is most effective when applied at the egg or early larval stages. While feeding stops immediately, death occurs during molting.
2. Application Method
Ensure thorough coverage of the foliage. Mix the required formulation (gm) in the specified amount of water (500L/Ha standard) to ensure proper distribution.

Safety Precautions

Environmental Profile: This product is generally selective for Lepidopteran pests and has a favorable safety profile for beneficial insects. However, standard protective gear should be worn during application.

Waiting Periods: Observe the strict waiting period of 26 days for Groundnut and 161 days for Sugarcane between the last spray and harvest.
