Product Information

Mode of Action

Bentazone (HRAC Group 6) inhibits Photosystem II (PS II), disrupting electron transport and halting photosynthesis in susceptible weeds. Acting primarily as a contact herbicide, it causes rapid foliar chlorosis, cell disruption, and tissue necrosis shortly after application.

Target Weeds
  • Cyperus difformis
  • Cyperus iria
  • Monochoria vaginalis
  • Ludwigia spp.
  • Amaranthus spp.
  • Chenopodium album
  • Commelina benghalensis

Recommended Application Guidance

Crop Target Weeds Dosage & Method of Application
Rice, Maize, Wheat, Beans & Peas Annual broadleaf weeds and sedges Apply as a post-emergence spray on actively growing weeds at the recommended label dosage. Ensure thorough and uniform spray coverage for effective weed control.
For specific L/ha or ml/ha dosage rates and local water volume recommendations across cereals, legumes, and rice, please refer to the registered product label or consult local agricultural extension specialists.

Application Instructions

1. Post-Emergence Active Growth Timing
Apply as a foliar post-emergence spray when annual broadleaf weeds and sedges are actively growing to maximize contact activity and achieve rapid foliar knockdown.
2. Thorough Spray Coverage
Ensure thorough and uniform spray coverage across weed foliage using calibrated boom sprayers. Because Bentazone acts primarily via direct contact, adequate foliar wetting is essential for complete control.

Safety & Environmental Care

Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles, face mask, protective suit) during handling, mixing, and application. Avoid spray drift onto non-target broadleaf crops and nearby aquatic habitats. Store in original sealed container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated location away from food, drink, and animal feed.
