Nitrogen & Sulfur Fertilizer

AMMONIUM SULPHATE

A dual-nutrient fertilizer containing 21% nitrogen and 24% sulfur. It provides quick-acting, readily available nitrogen for rapid vegetative growth and essential sulfur for protein synthesis. Its acidifying effect is particularly beneficial for improving nutrient availability in alkaline soils.

Key Benefit
Dual Nutrient (N+S)
Special Feature
Acidifies Alkaline Soil
Crops
Rice, Wheat, Oilseeds
Content: 21% Nitrogen (N) Content: 24% Sulfur (S) Form: Crystalline / Granular

Product Information

Mode of Action

Nitrogen Supply: The ammonium form of nitrogen is readily absorbed by plant roots and quickly converted into amino acids and proteins, driving rapid vegetative growth.

Sulfur Essentials: Sulfur is a critical component for synthesizing essential amino acids (cysteine, methionine), proteins, vitamins, and enzymes. It is vital for oil synthesis in oilseed crops.

Soil Acidification: Upon application, ammonium sulphate releases hydrogen ions, gradually reducing soil pH. This acidifying effect helps unlock micronutrients fixed in alkaline soils, making them available to plants.

Key Benefits
  • Dual nutrient source providing high percentages of both Nitrogen (21%) and Sulfur (24%).
  • Provides quick-acting nitrogen for rapid initial growth boost.
  • Improves overall protein quality in grain crops.
  • Significantly enhances oil content in oilseed crops like mustard and canola.
  • Acidifies alkaline soils, improving the availability of other essential nutrients (like iron and zinc).

General Dosage Recommendations

*Note: General recommendations for Ammonium Sulphate. Always consult local soil test results and agronomist advice.

Application Timing Crop Types General Dosage (kg/acre)
Basal Application Rice, Wheat, Maize, Sugarcane 50 – 75 kg
Top Dressing Cereals, Vegetables 25 – 50 kg (per split)
Basal/Split Oilseeds (Mustard, Soybean) 40 – 60 kg

Directions for Use

1. Soil Suitability
Ideally suited for alkaline and calcareous soils where its acidifying effect is beneficial. Use with caution on already acidic soils.
2. Application Method
Can be applied as a basal dose or as a top dressing. Broadcast uniformly and incorporate into soil followed by light irrigation for best results.
3. Split Application
For long-duration crops, split applications (basal + top dressing) are recommended to reduce leaching losses.

Safety & Storage

Storage: Ammonium Sulphate is hygroscopic. Store in a cool, dry place in tightly sealed original bags. Do not store directly on the floor.

Safety: Wear gloves and dust mask during handling. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
