Selective Herbicide
METRIBUZIN 70% WP
Provides pre- and post-emergence control of a wide range of annual grasses and broad-leaved weeds. Inhibits photosynthesis to effectively clear weeds in key crops like potato, tomato, wheat, and soybean.
Target Weeds
Annual Grass & Broad-leaf
Mode of Action
Photosystem II Inhibitor
Crops
Potato, Wheat, Sugarcane
Active: Metribuzin
Formulation: 70% WP (Wettable Powder)
Action: Pre & Post-Emergence
Product Information
Mode of Action
Metribuzin inhibits photosynthesis at Photosystem II, blocking electron transport and causing chlorophyll destruction. It is absorbed via roots and leaves and translocated within the plant to target sites.
Major Target Weeds
- Amaranthus spp.
- Chenopodium spp.
- Digitaria spp.
- Echinochloa spp.
- Setaria spp.
Recommended Dosage
| Crop | Target Weeds | Dosage (kg/ha) | Water (L) | PHI (Days) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Soybean | Cyperus campestris, Eragrostis spp., Digitaria spp., Borreria spp. | 0.5 – 0.75 | 750-1000 | 30 |
| Wheat | Phalaris minor, Chenopodium album, Melilotus spp. | 0.25 – 0.30 | 500-750 | 120 |
| Sugarcane | Cyperus rotundus, Cynodon dactylon, Chenopodium album, Convolvulus arvensis, Parthenium hysterophorus, etc. | 1.5 – 3.0 | 750-1000 | 60 |
| Potato | Chenopodium album, Trianthema monogyna, Phalaris minor, Parthenium hysterophorus | 0.75 | 750-1000 | 30 |
| Tomato | Trianthema portulacastrum, Amaranthus viridis, Portulaca oleracea, Digera arvensis | 0.75 | 750-1000 | 30 |
Dosage refers to kg of formulation per hectare. Use higher water volumes (750-1000 L) for dense canopies like sugarcane.
Application Instructions
1. Mixing
This is a Wettable Powder (WP). Make a slurry by mixing the required quantity of powder with a small amount of water. Add this slurry to the spray tank half-filled with water, then fill to the required level while agitating.
2. Timing of Application
Can be applied pre-emergence or early post-emergence. For Potato and Tomato, ensure application is done before the crop canopy closes to reach the soil surface effectively.
Safety Precautions
Warning: Use personal protective equipment (gloves, mask, goggles). Do not spray on sandy soils with low organic matter as leaching may occur. Observe the waiting period (PHI) strictly before harvest.
