Selective Herbicide
CLOMAZONE 50% EC
Provides pre-emergence control of a wide range of annual grasses and broad-leaved weeds. Inhibits carotenoid biosynthesis causing chlorophyll bleaching in susceptible weeds.
Target Weeds
Annual Grass & Broad-leaf
Mode of Action
Carotenoid Inhibitor
Crops
Rice, Soy, Sugarcane
Active: Clomazone
Formulation: 50% EC
Action: Pre-Emergence
Product Information
Mode of Action
Clomazone inhibits carotenoid biosynthesis. This results in the bleaching of chlorophyll and disruption of photosynthetic pigments in susceptible weeds. It is absorbed by the shoots and roots of germinating weeds and translocated to the leaves, leading to chlorosis and death.
Target Weeds
- Echinochloa spp.
- Amaranthus spp.
- Setaria spp.
- Digitaria spp.
- Chenopodium spp.
Recommended Dosage
| Crop | Weed Species | Dosage (L/ha) | Water (L) | PHI (Days) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Soybean | Digitaria sp., Echinochloa sp., Parthenium hysterophorus, Commelina sp. | 1.5 – 2.0 | 500-600 | 90 |
| Transplanted Rice | Echinochloa crusgalli, E. colonum, Cyperus difformis, C. iria, Ludwigia parviflora, Eclipta alba | 0.8 – 1.0 | 500-750 | 90 |
| Sugarcane | Echinochloa colonum, Brachiaria repens, Dactylotenium aegyptium, Trianthema portulacastrum | 1.5 – 2.0 | 500 | 296 |
Dosage refers to Liters of formulation per hectare. Always observe the Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI) listed for your specific crop.
Application Instructions
1. Mixing
Clomazone 50% is an Emulsifiable Concentrate (EC). Add the required quantity to the water in the spray tank while stirring. Ensure thorough mixing to form a stable emulsion.
2. Timing of Application
Apply as a pre-emergence herbicide. The soil should be moist at the time of application to ensure absorption by germinating weed seeds.
Safety Precautions
Warning: Use personal protective equipment (gloves, mask, boots). Clomazone causes temporary bleaching (whitening) of sensitive plants; avoid drift to non-target crops.
