Seed Treatment Fungicide

METALAXYL 35% WS

A specialized systemic seed treatment formulation (WS) designed to provide early-season protection against soil-borne oomycete pathogens. It ensures healthy seedling establishment by protecting the seed from germination through the critical early growth stages.

Target Disease
Downy Mildew, White Rust
Mode of Action
Systemic Seed Protection
Crops
Maize, Millet, Sunflower
Active: Metalaxyl 35% Formulation: WS (Water Dispersible Powder for Slurry) Action: Systemic Acropetal

Product Information

Mode of Action

Metalaxyl inhibits RNA polymerase in oomycetes, preventing protein synthesis. When applied as a seed treatment, it is absorbed by the germinating seed and moves acropetally (upwards) into the growing shoot. This provides sustained internal protection against soil-borne pathogens during the most vulnerable establishment phase.

Target Diseases
  • Downy mildew (Sorghum, Sugarcane, Philippine, Brown stripe types)
  • White rust (Albugo candida)
  • Pythium damping-off
  • Seedling blight
Key Benefits

Specifically formulated for seed treatment (WS), ensuring uniform coating and better adherence compared to standard WP formulations.

Recommended Dosage

Crop Disease Dosage per 100 Kg Seed Water for Slurry (L)
Maize Downy mildew (Various types) 700 g 0.75 – 1.0 L
Bajra (Pearl Millet) Downy mildew 600 g 0.75 – 1.0 L
Sorghum Downy mildew 600 g 0.75 – 1.0 L
Sunflower Downy mildew 600 g 0.75 – 1.0 L
Mustard White Rust 600 g 0.75 – 1.0 L
Important: The dosage is calculated per 100 kg of seed. The water volume (0.75 – 1.0 L) is intended to create a slurry paste for coating, not for field spraying.

Application Instructions

1. Slurry Preparation
Mix the required quantity of Metalaxyl 35% WS with the specified amount of water (0.75-1.0 L per 100 kg seed) to form a smooth slurry or paste.
2. Seed Coating
Add the slurry to the seeds in a seed treater drum or a plastic bag. Rotate/shake until all seeds are uniformly coated. Allow the seeds to dry in the shade before sowing. Do not dry in direct sunlight.

Safety Precautions

Seed Safety: Treated seeds are for sowing purposes only. Do not use treated seed for food, feed, or oil extraction.

Handling: Wear gloves and a mask during seed treatment. Dispose of empty containers safely.
