CHLORPYRIFOS 10% GR

An organophosphate insecticide in a granular formulation designed for larvicidal control in standing water bodies. It provides effective, sustained release control of mosquito larvae and other aquatic pests in drains, ponds, and water tanks.

Target Pest
Mosquito Larvae
Mode of Action
Sustained Release AChE Inhibitor
Application
Standing Water Bodies
Active: Chlorpyrifos 10% Formulation: GR (Granules) Action: Larvicidal

Product Information

Mode of Action

Nerve Inhibition: Chlorpyrifos is an organophosphate that inhibits the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme. This causes an accumulation of acetylcholine at the nerve synapses, leading to continuous nerve impulses, paralysis, and death of the target larvae.

Sustained Release: The granular formulation allows the product to settle at the bottom of the water body or release slowly over time, providing extended residual control against re-infestation.

Target Pests
  • Mosquito Larvae (Anopheles, Aedes, Culex spp.)
  • Chironomid Midges
  • Other aquatic insect larvae
Key Benefits

Easy to apply (ready-to-use granules). Effective in polluted water where other formulations might degrade quickly. Provides long-term protection.

Application Areas & Dosage

Application Areas
  • Stagnant water bodies (Ponds, Lakes)
  • Drains and Sewage systems
  • Water storage tanks (non-potable)
  • Cooling towers
  • Rice fields (for mosquito control)
  • Marshy swamps and mosquito breeding sites
Recommended Dosage

*Consult local public health guidelines for precise rates.

Target Application Site Dosage
Mosquito Larvae Clear Water 2 – 5 kg / Hectare
Mosquito Larvae Polluted Water / Drains 5 – 10 kg / Hectare
General Use Small Water Bodies 10 – 20 grams per 100 Liters

Directions for Use

1. Method of Application
Broadcast the granules uniformly over the water surface by hand (wearing gloves) or using a mechanical granule spreader. The granules will sink and release the active ingredient.
2. Frequency
Repeat application every 2-3 weeks or when larval breeding is noticed again. The frequency depends on water flow and pollution levels.
3. Restrictions
Do not use in drinking water sources. Chlorpyrifos is toxic to fish and other aquatic life; avoid application in water bodies used for aquaculture unless specified.

Safety & Storage

Precautions: Highly toxic to birds and fish. Do not contaminate food or animal feed.

Handling: Wear protective gloves, mask, and clothing. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, locked place away from children.
